so you are making a very strong effort, but slow down. Take it slower, you shooting digital so bracket you exposure. The standard is +1, normal, -1 or -1.5 below what ever your meter is telling you. Often with digital cameras like the Sony they over expose. But get closer. Also you can create creative background to help maximize your subject if you will use a wider F-stop. SO in this photo your F10 at 1/1600 of a second...try F4 or F5.6 you would have gotten a much faster shutter speed, and also shoot hand held with more assurance. Start at F4 first...let the background fall out of focus. It will give you very pleasing results. This should have been a near macro shot.
I make all these comments as your trying to make a step to a higher level of artistic statement, but yet missing the gold ring...so to speak. I my comments will help.
